A Follow-Up to the Wine Dinner on May 17th
Following the delightful wine dinner on May 17th, I continued the wining and dining with family and friends on Saturday, May 18th. This time, we enjoyed a bottle of Chateau Indage White Zinfandel. Initially, I was intrigued by the label, as White Zinfandel is quite rare. However, the back label clarified that it was actually a Zinfandel Rosé, easing my curiosity.
The wine has a pure baby pink colour with a brilliant sheen. It is mesmerizing both on the palate and the nose. The aroma is rich with ripe berries, while the taste is a delightful mix of citrus and sweet strawberries. The overall experience was exhilarating, leaving a long, lingering aftertaste of mild sweetness and fruit.
This excellent wine makes a perfect aperitif for a warm evening and pairs beautifully with any finger food.

Just back home. Missing the Nashik Trip.

A winemaker from Austria visiting India brought a very personal gift of a wine bottle.
It is a private un-named label.
Grape Variety: Gruner Veltliner
Style: Orange wine—Unfiltered wine directly from the tank
This unfiltered orange wine contained spent yeast, which can sometimes inhibit the full release of its aroma. To enhance its bouquet, I carefully tilted the bottle to allow the yeast to settle, repeating this process before pouring. Once poured, I allowed the wine to rest in the glass, enabling its aromas to open up. Although a slight cloudiness remained, this added character rather than detracting from the experience.
Tasting Notes:
• Nose: The wine offers a vivid citrus aroma that is instantly enticing, almost making the palate anticipate a fresh, citrus fruit forward sip.
• Palate: Crisp stone fruit flavours, leaning towards peach, dominate the palate. The dryness of the wine complements the vibrant acidity, creating a refreshing and balanced sensation with a lingering, satisfying finish.
• Colour: Light golden with subtle orange hints around the rim.
• Body: Medium-bodied, though edging towards a fuller profile.
• Tannins: Soft and subtle, noticeable primarily in the aftertaste as the strong fruit profile subsides.
Food Pairing:
For this tasting, I paired the wine with homemade scrambled egg on toast. The creamy texture of the eggs and the crunch of the toast proved to be an ideal match, enhancing the wine’s balance and making for a delightful combination.
