Friday, 17th May 2024, Mumbai was bustling with mega rallies under the blazing sun. However, a select group found refuge at the Hyatt Centric, enjoying a Wine Dinner organized by The Cask Circle Mumbai under the aegis of Wine-Bro.
Chateau Indage, where I began my wine journey in 1994, showcased a select portfolio including Marquise de Pompadour and Tiger Hill wines. The wine varietals featured were Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz, and Merlot.
The Hyatt Centric provided an exceptional setting with courteous service and unforgettable food.
Highlights of the evening:
• Welcome with Marquise de Pompadour: India’s iconic sparkling wine with a floral nose and crisp acidity.
• Chenin Blanc: Paired perfectly with Bhatti da murg and paneer, its crispness and minerality cutting through the richness of the dishes.
• Sauvignon Blanc: Complemented cream-based dishes, its herbaceous palate matching the creamy textures.
• Shiraz: Its spicy, medium-bodied profile paired well with mildly spicy dumplings.
• Merlot: Medium-bodied with plum notes, it was a surprising match with Kari Kapitan bowl and chicken kolhapuri.
The evening concluded with dark chocolate and berries.
The wine and food, taste still lingers and the mind yearns for more.
Thanks to Chateau Indage and Hyatt Centric for a memorable night. Cheers!! An event of class and quality.Enjoyable evening with selected wines, well paired with eats, followed by immaculate report, recreate the joy.Cheers!! again.

Oakwood Wine Dinner at Hyatt Centric: An Evening of Fine Wine, Exceptional Food, and New Friendships
“Wow” – it’s the perfect word to describe an evening where, despite the challenges of traffic, friends come together to create unforgettable memories.
For many of us, this was the first time meeting one another, yet by the end of the evening, after sharing a glass of exquisite wine, what began as simple introductions blossomed into genuine friendships. The shared experience sparked a desire to meet again.
On December 6th, 2024, we gathered for a memorable evening, indulging in wines from Oakwood Vineyards. The event was thoughtfully curated, with the wines presented by Hans Raj Ahuja.
The night kicked off with a unique blend of Chenin Blanc and Viognier, a rare combination that surprised the palate. The unique blend showcased a floral bouquet with a crisp acidity, perfectly balanced by the wine’s medium sweetness. The palate was bursting with stone fruit flavours, with pineapple taking the lead.
Next, we savoured the semi-sweet Bella Rose, crafted from Zinfandel, which paired wonderfully with chicken and prawn shumai (dim sum dumplings). The wine’s medium sweetness complemented the delicate flavours of the dish, enhancing the experience.
The third course featured crispy, juicy chicken kara-age, lightly spiced and paired with the dry Oak Tree Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine’s bold profile was a perfect match for the rich flavours of the chicken.
For the final course, we enjoyed chicken pasta paired with the medium-bodied Oak Tree Shiraz. The wine’s subtle spiciness was elevated by the mild spice of the pasta, creating a harmonious blend of flavours.
The evening culminated with a must-try Chenin Blanc dessert wine from Oakwood. Full-bodied and laden with fruity aromas, it was the perfect accompaniment to a Basque cheesecake, its light sweetness and hints of vanilla enhancing the wine’s floral bouquet.
Though the food and wine had been savoured, the conversation lingered long into the night. What was meant to be an evening that ended by 10 p.m. stretched on well past 11, as we discussed the exceptional wines from Oakwood and the outstanding cuisine from Hyatt Centric.
What an unforgettable evening: fine wines, delicious food, and the joy of making new friends.
